THE LATEST MAN
THE LATEST MAN
By Jaya Hari Das
I am the latest man,
Whose eyes are on the blue,
Who thinks he understood
The things along the sand.
I am the latest man,
Whose days spent away
Were nothing but a play,
I mean, a joker’s plan.
I am the latest man
That has no time at all
To waste it feeling small,
Not doing what he can.
I am the latest man,
Whose mouth speaks a word
That hurts more than a sword,
No one can understand.
I am the latest man
That pays for all his sins,
That knows what it means,
To win his holy land.
I am the latest man
Who fights for happiness,
Forgetting all the past,
Not having where or when.
I am the latest man,
Who has no company,
Whose life has finally
Just gotten to an end.
