Writing as a teaching challenge

According to the Merriam-Webster Learners Dictionary writing is defined as “the activity or work of writing books, poems, stories, etc.” or as “the way that you use written words to express your ideas or opinions”. Considering those definitions, it is possible to identify in this skill a concept of genres and types of writing within the first meaning the dictionary presents. Thus, in order to become more familiar with this concept, it is essential for this study the idea genres and types of writing can apply to the work with writing in classrooms.
