INEPTNESS

INEPTNESS -- WM. LAGOS, MAR 8 '06

Saw you tonight but for a flitting,

Forlorn vision, just like a dream;

After so many days, it would seem

You lived no more than in the meeting

Of shadow and substance I often had

To you spoken about, but a moment

Endeavored by love and sentiment,

Dressed by hope and by delusion clad.

And then you just turned to the way

Your life you took toward an elsewhere

To which appears I shall never belong.

Instead of embracing you and hold you strong,

I wronged myself: why should I walk away

From where I knew my heart still were?
