Review of the book Bridge to Terabithia - Katherine Paterson [English text]

The two become fast friends and spend most days in the woods bihind Leslie's house, where they invent an enchanted land called Terabithia. One morning, Leslie goes to Terabithia without Jess and a tragedy occurs. It will take the love of his family and the strength that Leslie has given him for Jess to be able to deal with his grief'' (Back cover of the book).
First of all i was looking for a simple book in english to practice the language, and i decided to have it. It isn't just a book for kids or teenagers, it's also for adults. The simply history of Jess and his family in the beginning looks a common one: just a kid living with his daughters and parents in home, with simple problems. And then Jess meet a new friend in school that probably will mark his life forever: Leslie. The mainly point of the book is their friedship, and through it, they decide to criate a imaginary land called Therabithia, where Leslie was the queen and Jess the king.
I have to confess: it looks a simple book at the beggining, but it is not a simple history and it just surprised me. You can remember the friendship between two children, the plays and funny moments, and the innocence of being a children. But the book is not only roses, and that's the thing: the history also shows the worse part of the life: a bad thing happen, and i felt it as a person. I really felt sad and emotional through the last pages, and it's not because the history is bad, but because it made me to think about life. When we are alive, we live good moments with those who you like, but suddenly, everything can change. Nobody will live forever. Nobody knows the end.
This book tells about a truly friendship that was broke through a disaster. But i can't tell all the details here, because probably it will take out all the surprises of the history. I really liked to read this book. And yes: it's perfect for children. That typical agradable history to spend the time.
