Live in the big cities and get the cultural torrent
Living in big cities is far more advantageous for developing our cultural awareness. Big cities have plenty of alternatives for those who want to expand their cultural view and enter a life of amusement and excitement. For people who appreciate doing different things and engaging themselves in many activities at the same time, living in big cities is much more attractive than living in small towns, which don’t offer or cannot support a vast cultural environment. In other words, to live in a metropolitan surrounding such as New York or Rio de Janeiro is to live the best that life has to offer. This is easy to see if we consider transportation, network business, arts and entertainment and modern conveniences in the large cities.
To start with, transportation is a waste of time for anyone in small towns. Picture yourself in a small town wishing to buy a few things at the last minute because you just received a letter from friends saying they were in town to pay you a visit. You decide then to take a bus and do the shopping but you wait for hours for the bus to come but it never does. Now, picture this situation in a big city. You would probably warmly ask your friends to come and make a reservation at a nice restaurant beforehand, or you would go very quickly, even walking, to a supermarket where you would have a great variety of products to better fit your needs. You would have options and no need to travel or plan ahead in order to catch a bus, because everything would be there near you.
Now, if you think about arts and entertainment, in big cities you are exposed to a cultural diversity you will never have in small cities. You may go to a Chinese Festival one weekend and to an Indian Meditation spa on the next; to a sushi bar with your date on Friday and to a Mexican restaurant for a burrito with your friends on Saturday. The attractions of big cities never stop and they are offered on a regular basis. You may have a frenetic schedule but certainly at the end of the day you will feel fulfilled. The same cannot be said about living in a small town, where you do basically the same things every day, talk to the same people about the same subjects every day and everything is predictable.
Another beneficial circumstance of big cities is the modern conveniences. For example, if you need to eat but you are in a rush you will most certainly find food that you can order quickly, even by phone, and thus make use of your time doing more relevant things. But the smoothness of problem-solving does not stop here; in the big city you have a great number of supermarkets to do your grocery shopping, snack bars, cabs, buses (not to mention catching a ride) they are always everywhere when you need them. Most stores accept credit and debit cards, which simplifies your transactions, and you also have a choice of 24hour ATMs or banks at your disposal. Moreover 24-hour pharmacies, hospitals and convenience stores very close to you. If you have to worry about building your life , why to opt for a lack of comfort and commodity living in a small town when you can have the privilege of living in the big city that covers all your daily needs?
Consequently, in order to live this way of life, you must enjoy selecting among many activities and be flexible. In the end it is really worth it because you have the best that life has to offer. In the big city you have all you need practically in the palm of your hand. Many friends of mine achieved a successful life after deciding to live in cities like Rio de Janeiro or New York. They reported having to deal with loads of opportunities, which sometimes made decision-making really hard. So, do not waste your precious time planning a creative and exciting life while depending on your narrowed small town to get you there. Furthermore, think about how nice it would be to have your needs met and be free to live your life as you would like.
