Distantes vão as promessas que por certo já esqueceste
Longe vão os carinhos que gentil me ofereceste
Mas ainda sinto na alma as carícias que me fizeste.
No rio do tempo desliza o barco do esquecimento,
E na voragem dos dias que em anos se transformam
Belas imagens aos poucos se deformam
Quase apagando o meu mais belo momento...
Que mágica foi essa que um dia li em teu olhar
E que também num passe de pura prestidigitação
Condenou para sempre meu confiante coração
Para toda a eternidade e mais além ainda te amar?
Que estranho condão é esse, que nos poderes da magia
Me arrebata a alma e me abandona na total escuridão
Onde para sempre seguirá meu coração
À espera de raiar de um novo dia?
No horizonte um dia despontou a claridade
Que haveria de me levar cantando à aventura

the gentle caresses that you offered me gone with the time,
But I still feel in my soul the caresses you did…
In the river of time the boat of forgetfulness slips
And in the maelstrom of the days that into years turns
Beautiful images gradually transform itself
Nearly erasing my finest moment...
What magic was this one, that one day I read in your eyes
And also a stroke of pure sleight
Condemned forever my trusting heart
For all eternity and beyond still love you?
How strange is this wand that in the powers of magic
snatch my soul and leave me in total darkness
in which follow my heart for ever
Waiting for dawn of a new day?
On the horizon one day dawned clarity
That would take me singing to the adventure
In your arms, your lips and candor
To follow you till the end of eternity ...
Today devoured by time, these moments
On the walls of the soul are just empty frames,
Just reflections of the old days and smiles
That the ravages of time turned into oblivion ...
