Grow Up

The kid got out of the house

without saying goodbye to anyone

They don't talk much in those days

He had only ten pounds to burn

And he stole his father's oyster for the train

Things can get pretty crazy on a Saturday night

But this kid was not the kind of being afraid

Once the dark light shone upon his face

And the last pound was such a waste

The kid returned home without a word spoken

Mom and Daddy never realized he'd gone

Now the kid knew he'd found a way

Next week he was doing it again

And every week, every time

Arriving skint, eyes open and a bit late

Till one day when Sunday dawn bestowed

Mom and Daddy were all alone

The kid was not in, no longer available

And from then on,

they had nothing to do in life

Apart from waiting and waiting and waiting,

But the kid has gone for good

And he'd never ever be back again.
