Soliloquy
I have endured life as a dreamer
Everlastingly sure of awakening
Some day to a hotter summer
Or even to a brighter spring.
I’ve faced days with pain and joy
I’ve been a divine being’s toy,
dove deep into frozen water
and burned to ashes, freaked and sober.
Up-down tossed by the waves to a fen,
By implacable billows of an eternal sea.
For a friend, only paper and pen,
And these pale words which speak for me.
