My farewell

Baby..

I want to say goodbye to you,

without sorrow,

without fear or resentment...

I want to tell you that I'm leaving you because ... I love you...

If I didn't, I'd carry on,

we'd be two more in the crowd,

deceiving the heart...

I want to say goodbye with affection,

with love, with the peace and tranquillity

that is in my heart...

Look again, move on, you'll find a different love,

but like mine, don't even think about it,

because you hardly know what you've lost...

I set you free to fly,

to taste the breeze on your face

that comes with freedom... But remember,

to really love you need responsibility.

So I leave you free,

running through the fields,

feeling the taste of each morning...

And if the night is long, or it's cold at dawn,

warm yourself with the memory of kisses,

the hugs of those you despised.

Your contempt will come at a price,

for not valuing those who loved you.

This freedom will be fleeting,

and you will be a prisoner of loneliness...

I set you free because I love you,

if I didn't, I would still be...

I set you free because my essence

exceeds my ego, and love fills my heart...

And being with you,

all this love would have no reason

to take root and keep sprouting in my heart...
