The Old Lady and I
I saw an old lady passing by
She seemed to be so shrewd and wise
Made me think about me when I die
So I stopped and felt like asking her for an advice
Her discreet dress reminded me of my Mom
Always preparing something for me to eat
In the morning: “Hey, wake up son”
“No, please…. some more sleep, just a bit!”
Out on the street still yawning
My head scheduled my entire day
The sun up there still dawning
Me, down here, preparing my way
Days and years went by
And that old lady got older
But every time I see her smile I sigh
Because I know the time grows colder
But there she stood like a tree
Ninety five years had passed in that heart
She was old and grey but still worked like a bee
Though time was merciless, it could not take her apart
I want to be as tough as she is
Defying storms, wind and rain
Although wrinkled, lives in bliss
Forgiving problems, grudges and pain
