NO SPRING BREAK

Unfortunately, no "Spring Break" (Semana do Saco Cheio) in the state of São Paulo this time. Gone are the days when this week was so much expected so that teachers could relax, travel, or simply visit their relatives in another city or even another state. Everyone is so tired, so many teachers under medical assistance since they’ve been demanded too much, beyond their power and health. I know we should be thankful for our lifetime jobs (hard examinations to pass this kind of tests and take on the jobs in the Department of Education in the city we work in). But we've been living in difficult times when teenagers have another focus on life. It seems studying and paying attention to a simple explanation of a subject have been too hard for them and sometimes even impossible. It doesn’t matter how well the classes are prepared, how much energy and hours you’ve been investing in your career, students simply don’t care anymore. You change your Teaching Plan, you change your strategies, you adapt and try to approach them in a different way. No way, sheer waste of your precious time. I am happy to be approaching retirement age so that I can take care of my private life and courses I intend to offer to special students from companies around my city.

Anyway, I hope and pray students in Brazil can change their minds about getting some education, without which, life is too empty in every way.

May GOD bless our teachers and their students!
