CHOICE

I am very pretentious, enough to believe

You're getting ready for me, trying the things

You think I would approve of, all you conceive

Will make you more desirable, all that brings

To a clever man a properly companion,

One to be proud of, a perfect muse,

A sidekick, a helper, a mate, say, a minion

To his waning days her youth afford and use

Her brand-new skills as a sort of compliment,

To be closer, to grow, to show achievement.

Remember though that now, in full acceptance,

His heart flows to you, without least hindrance:

He's proud indeed of you, his soul has sifted well,

And found among them all, the best he could tell.
